BALDWINSVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT – Starting Feb. 1, Dr. Kathleen Davis, will serve as interim superintendent of the Baldwinsville Central School District.
That agreement, along with an agreement on the resignation of Superintendent Jason Thomson, were expected to be discussed at the Baldwinsville school board meeting on Monday evening. That meeting took place after the deadline for this edition of the Messenger.
Davis has a long history of serving upstate New York’s school districts. For 15 years, she served as superintendent of schools for the Holland Patent School District. Since her retirement from that role, she has served interim superintendent for the Oneida City School District, Geneva City School District, New York Mills School District, Canastota Central School District and Waterville School District.
In Baldwinsville, she previously served as an interim principal for Ray Middle School.
It has not been stated how long Davis will serve as interim superintendent for the Baldwinsville Central School district, whether it be until the end of the year, or until a permanent superintendent is found. The district is expected to pay Davis $800 per day.
Thomson was placed on paid administrative leave on Oct. 10 shortly following a drunk driving incident where he was charged by police with driving while intoxicated.
Thomson was pulled over by local police on school grounds shortly after leaving the homecoming football game, where he was reported to be crowd-surfing with students.
He pleaded guilty on Dec. 14 to a charge of driving while ability impaired (DWAI).
Since being on administrative leave, Thomson has been paid $50,000, while Dr. Thomas DeBarbieri has been serving as acting superintendent.
