CAZENOVIA — On Sept. 7, Cazenovia Central School District (CCSD) welcomed students K-12 back to school for daily in-person instruction.
Two days later, Superintendent Chris DiFulvio reported that the fall semester was off to a great start.
“The faculty and staff have done an excellent job implementing our academic and social emotional learning plans this year,” he said. “I think it is important to remember that our faculty and staff hit a homerun last year by remaining open five days a week. This year our school remains committed to in-person learning. In-person learning continues to be the best way to meet our students’ social and emotional needs.”
According to the CCSD Reopening/Operational Plan for 2021-2022, the district is following the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the CDC, local health departments, and the Commissioner of Education.
Staff and students are expected to wear face coverings indoors during school hours and when riding the school bus. Mask breaks are provided during the instructional day, and accommodations have been considered for students who are unable to wear masks.
“[Mask wearing] is something that our students, faculty and staff are used to and has not been an issue,” said DiFulvio. “Many students are excited to show off their new school masks much like a new outfit or shoes. Our students continue to be role models throughout this pandemic.”
During the school year, outdoor instruction will be encouraged when curriculum and conditions permit.
The operational plan also states that all teachers will maintain a Google Classroom instructional platform, but remote instruction is not being provided this year.
