ESM music department honored
For the seventh year in a row, ESM has been designated among the Best Communities for Music Education. Designations are given to districts that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and consistent access to music education as part of a well-rounded education.
ESM is among only 754 school districts nationwide that were recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.
“Through consistent and overwhelming support from the ESM administration, parents and community, we are able to continue to provide a music education that is integral to develop the skills necessary for a student to be successful professionally, socially and emotionally in life. On behalf of the entire music department, it is an honor to receive the distinction of “Best Community for Music Education” for the seventh year in a row,” said ESM’s Music Department Leader Tom Decker. ESM has 15 full time music teachers.
“This distinction can equally be attributed to the outstanding efforts and talents of our students. Together we will continue to maintain our high standards for music education at ESM,” said Decker.
“The music education that is offered at East Syracuse Minoa is of a quality and consistency that allows us to once again call ourselves one of NAMM’s “Best Communities for Music Education,” said Adam Shatraw, K-12 performing arts supervisor.
“This type of recognition happens when a “perfect storm” of passionate students, talented and dedicated faculty, an administration that believes in the value of arts education for all, and a supportive community converge to create sustainable programming focused on how music education relates to being a productive member of our global society,” Shatraw said. “At ESM we are fortunate enough to have all of these elements thriving and interconnected.”
