Christian Brothers Academy senior Brennan Carman was selected as one of 689 semifinalists for the 2016 United States Presidential Scholars competition.
Carman was selected out of nearly 3.3 million high school seniors. He is the only semifinalist from Central New York and one of 24 students from all of New York State to be selected.
The United States Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by the Executive Order of the President, to recognize and honor some of the Nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Each year, over 4,000 candidates are identified for the component of the program that focuses on academic achievement and based on having scored exceptionally well on the SAT or the ACT.
Carman, who is the Class of 2016 Valedictorian, will attend Yale in the fall to study biochemistry. He was also accepted to Harvard, Brown, Georgetown, Colgate, University of Rochester, Binghamton, New York University and Case University.
