An 11th grade student at Manlius Pebble Hill School was one of two grand prize winners at the 37th annual Central New York Science and Engineering Fair, which was held Sunday, March 20, at Onondaga Community College.
Andrew Park of MPH was honored for his project “Revolutionizing Energy Storage with Metal Organic Frameworks and Supercapacitors,” a potential clean energy solution. Park received an expense-paid trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair May 8 to May 13 in Phoenix, Ariz., where his project will be entered in the competition.
This was the fifth year in a row that an MPH student has come home with one of the two top awards from the CNY Fair, which invites top projects from local STEM fairs for students in grades four through 12, across an 11-county area.
In all, 36 MPH students from grades five through 12 were among the 250 who entered their projects at the March 20 event at OCC. Twenty-seven of them received at least one award, including all of the entrants from MPH’s Upper School.
The Central New York Science and Engineering Fair is organized by the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology, with major funding and support from Lockheed Martin and SRC Inc.
