Judy Schnorr, 82, our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by her children. She was predeceased by Gilbert Schnorr, her husband of 34 years in 1996.
Judy was born Judith M. Gaska in 1939, in Buffalo, N.Y. She is survived by her four children: Gretchen (Larry) Taylor of Warner Robins, GA, Gil (Victoria Vaga) Schnorr of Camillus, Ann (Peter) Hotchkiss of Cicero and Gunther (Heather Lavelle) Schnorr of Jamesville. Twelve grandchildren: Erin (Cole) Moore and Ryan Taylor; Grace and Garrett Schnorr; Alana (Anthony) Guidetti, Collin, Whitney (Brett Grandjean) and Mallory Hotchkiss; Gunther, Madeline, Gabrielle and Savannah Schnorr; and two great-grandchildren: Cole Flynn and Everly Guidetti. She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters: Edward Gaska, Michael Gaska, Jack (Susan) Gaska, Linda (James) Helmbrecht, James (Tracy) Gaska and Mary Anne Gaska Brzezowski, along with many beloved nieces, nephews and others who considered her “Grandma Jude.”
Judy always put her family and others first. From welcoming and hosting her siblings to her annual Halloween parties, everyone was always welcomed and well fed. She was a super babysitter for all of her grandchildren and would always make sure their pockets were full of candy upon their departure. We could always count on her having the newest video or must-have toy as soon as it was released for others to enjoy.
Judy loved going to the local casinos and playing her slots. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and worked in the kitchen for bingo night for many years.
Calling hours and a memorial service was held on April 11 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Traub Funeral Home, 7975 Route 31 in Bridgeport, NY. Donations may be made to the Bridgeport Food Pantry or Golisano Children’s Hospital.
