Richard “Dick” F. Patchett, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born in Syracuse to Allen and Ruth Patchett. Dick attended Syracuse University and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-58. After receiving his degree in physics from Albany State Teacher’s College in 1962, he moved to Rockville, MD, where he lived for 57 years. He worked as a research analyst at Research Analysis Corporation in McLean, VA, and as a weapons systems analyst at Vitro Corporation of America in Silver Spring, MD. He taught physics in Montgomery County Public Schools, Rockville, MD, for 28 years before retiring in 1998.
For those who knew Dick, they knew he loved to talk. He loved a good discussion, sharing his opinions as well as getting points of views from others. Dick also enjoyed watching sports and traveling with his devoted wife. He believed humor was essential to the good life.
Dick is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan; three sons, Eric (Kim), Dean (Donna Verrill), and David (Marci); five granddaughters, Alithia (Ali), Madison, Elise, Claire and Lauren. He also leaves behind his twin brother, Ronald, and nephews, Randall (Randy) and Rhett. Dick is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles.
Calling hours will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville with a service to follow at 11:30 am at the funeral home.
