Cheryl A. Schruise, 74, of Cazenovia, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 8, 2021 with her family by her side at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton. She was born Oct. 2, 1946, in Canastota to Robert and Pauline Shumard and was a graduate of Cazenovia High School class of 1964. Cheryl was a secretary for 20 years at Bolivar Road Elementary School in Chittenango until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, camping and being outdoors, especially in her garden. Cheryl and her husband, Bob volunteered for many years with the Chittenango Central School District Athletic Booster Club.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert A. Schruise; her children, Michael (Brenda) Schruise of Chittenango and Tricia (Allen) Wiley of Morrisville; her brother, Terry (Elizabeth) Shumard of Connecticut; her sister, Lee Abbott of Manlius; six grandchildren, Kendra, Ryan, Tyler, Trevor, Joshua and Carter; one greatgranddaughter, Emma and one nephew, Jonathan.
The Schruise family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Community Memorial Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Cheryl during her recent illness, it was truly appreciated.
