Patricia A. Race, 84, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at Crouse Community Center. Pat was born on May 18, 1936 to James and Janet Philbrick in Syracuse, and was a graduate of Cazenovia Central School.
Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aun, and friend. She retired as a childcare provider caring for many children through her tenure.
She was an active member of various community organizations volunteering her time to help others. She was a communicate of St. James Church and an active member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Associates. Her faith was a very important part of her life. She loved to travel and especially loved traveling to Ireland with friends and her family.
Pat is predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Dick. She is survived by her children, Patrick (Beth), Charles (Marilyn), Theresa (Brian) Jacobs, Richard (Mary), and Michele Race. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren whom she loved and adored: Conor and Keeley Race, Michael, Aaron (Maria), Sarah (Dillon) Griffin, Kevin and Adam Race, Caitlin (Chad) Lee, Matthew (Rachel), Daniel, Molly Jacobs, Noah and Amy Race; great-grandchildren, Owen, Levi, and Nathan Lee; her sister, Janet Butler; and her niece, nephews, and cousins.
The family would also like to especially thank Jeanine Stone and Mikayla Gillette who lovingly cared for mom in the last year of her life. We would also like to thank the staff at Crouse Community Center for their compassionate and tender care of mom in her last days.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius. The funeral mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, at St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
