Henry “Hank” DiAngelo passed away at the age of 90 at Crown Park Nursing Home in Cortland, N.Y., on Jan. 30, 2021, of natural causes. He was born in Cortland to Joseph and Rose DiAngelo on Oct. 31, 1930.
He was married to Barbara Ann Dillon who predeceased him in 1983. He was also predeceased by baby brother Anthony, and adult siblings Helen Riccardi, Richard DiAngelo and Shirley Kane.
He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Yuko) of Tokyo, Japan and Michael of Cazenovia. His youngest son Joseph died in 2010. His daughters are Karen (David) Eldridge of Potomac, MD, Mary Beth (Michael) Catalano of Cortland, N.Y., and Barbara (Douglas) Grobbelaar of Albany. Hank had 10 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
Hank served in the U. S. Marines. Early on he raised horses and participated in rodeos. He enjoyed skiing at Greek Peak with friends. With a growing family he started his own successful building business. Hank could fix just about anything and he made a knockout pasta sauce.
Ever the joker and quick with a one-liner he was a real prankster. Once he convinced his young grandchildren that money grew on trees. He did this by hanging dollar bills with bread wrapper ties on one. The kids just stared wide-eyed and soon began picking. He liked to entertain the kids by feeding peanuts to two squirrels, which he named Luigi and Pasquale. He kept his sense of humor up to the very end.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a private burial for family only. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Hank at the St. Jude’s Children Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN. 38105. Please note in your contribution that your donation is in honor of Hank DiAngelo.
