Helen Grabosky Milin, 82, of Cazenovia passed away Monday, March 30, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in the Lyncourt neighborhood of Syracuse, to William and Christine Grabosky. She went to business school and then worked at the main library in downtown Syracuse. She married her beloved husband, Michael, on Oct. 8, 1960. They raised a family of four girls in Cazenovia.
Over the years, Helen worked at Atlantic Tugg in Syracuse, MacLaughlin’s Clothing in Cazenovia, Johnny Appleseed Farm in Nelson and as a nanny to two small boys. She volunteered as a Head Start assistant teacher at New Woodstock Elementary School and was an assistant leader for a Brownie Troop and a Girl Scout Troop in Cazenovia.
Helen was an avid gardener and took great pride in her flower gardens. She would spend hours upon hours tending to the flowers and enjoying the birds who came to her feeders. When she couldn’t be outdoors, she could be found reading. Helen was also well known for her cooking and baking talents. She hosted every holiday celebration for her family that she loved so very much.
She was a wonderful mother and was adored by her children. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Helen was a kind person who never met a stranger and always lent a helping hand. She was a good friend and she will be dearly missed.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her daughters Michele (Vince) Murphy of Camillus, Jeannine (Mimmo) Gilona of Erieville, Renee (RJ) Adams of Syracuse, and Leslie Milin of Cazenovia; her brother, Donald Grabosky of Syracuse; her grandchildren Michael and Sean Murphy, and Alexander and Delia Adams; her dog, Miss Ellie, and her cat, Gingie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin brother Henry Grabosky, as well as her brothers William Grabosky, Frederick Grabosky, and Francis Grabosky.
Services will be held at a later date. Burial was in St. James Cemetery in Cazenovia. Contributions can be made in Helen’s memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association. If a gift of flowers is preferred, please send arrangements in her memory to Crouse Community Center in Morrisville for the residents to enjoy.
