Andrew Elhers Constable was born in Montclair, N.J. on June 26, 1965. He died in New York City Jan. 4, 2020.
Andrew graduated from Kent School where he was a dorm prefect, captain of the cross-country track team, and editor of the Kent News. He then went on to graduate cum laude from Montclair State University.
Andrew resided in the East Village in New York City where he enjoyed studying and experiencing the history of New York City and sharing his knowledge as a licensed tour guide. He developed an active interest in art history and contemporary art while working as a senior security officer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Through travels world-wide and securing commissions from artists he met, he amassed a collection of paintings and drawings he hoped to put on display at a later date. He had a natural gift for interacting with people of all ages. To know Andrew was to love him.
Andrew is survived by his mother and father, Barbara and Robert, brothers Jeffrey and Peter, sisters-in-law Tina and Lara, nephews and nieces Spencer, Tyler, Allison, Brooke Huffstetler, Duncan and Charles. He was predeceased by his brother Robert in August 2019.
A celebration of Andrew’s life will take place at a later date and location to be announced.
