Ann Wasp Cooney, 62, of Cazenovia, passed away Friday morning, July 26, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Bronxville to William and Catherine Wasp and was a graduate of St. Clare Academy in 1974. Ann had been a bookkeeper with St. James Catholic Church and was currently employed as a customer service representative with St. Joseph Physicians Family Medicine-The Heritage Group in Cazenovia. She served as a board member and coordinator with Cazenovia Youth Hockey, was a member of the Cazenovia Golf Club and a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. Ann enjoyed cooking Italian food, gardening, deep sea fishing and the beach, especially Myrtle Beach, SC.
Ann is survived by her husband of 30 years, Thomas Allen Cooney of Cazenovia; her children, Patrick and Megan both of Cazenovia; her sister, Ellen (Allan) Beltran of Dobbs Ferry; three brothers, William (Valli) Wasp of Sante Fe, NM, Robert (Karen) Wasp of Poughquag and Russell (Marie) Wasp of White Plains; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Cooney of Manlius as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Jeanne Tedesco in 2011.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at St. James Catholic Church, 6 Green St. in Cazenovia. Rite of committal service will be in St. James Cemetery following the mass. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesday at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road, Cazenovia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CAVAC, 106 Nelson St., Cazenovia, NY 13035 in memory of Ann.
