Harold W. Yerton, 92, of Manlius, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2019, at a local nursing facility. He was born in Oswego Bitter (Camillus), the son of the late Amos and Laura Yerton, and brother to the late Raymond Yerton and Ruth (Yerton) MacLachlan. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 33 years, Doris H. Yerton, who died on Jan. 19, 1981.
Harold worked for the Town of Pompey Highway Department and was formerly employed by Highfield Estates in Fayetteville.
He attended Elbridge High School. He loved his horses, cats, feeding the birds and everything about nature. He enjoyed golfing, boating and fishing. He was very talented working with wood, plumbing, electricity and machinery.
He is survived by his children, Lynn (Yerton) and Phil Stumpf of Richmond, VA, and David and Kimberlee (Howard) Yerton of Fulton; and grandchildren, Kelly (Yerton) Davis, Ginger (Yerton) and Tom Cole and Nicolette (Stumpf) Bateson; and great-grandchildren Timothy and Margaret Cole and Wesley and Ethan Davis.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 4 p.m. at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8191 Cazenovia Road, Manlius.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sunshine Horses (Horse Rescue) or Pompey Community Church.
