Ruth (Haines) Howser, 96, of Skaneateles, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at home. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she graduated from Eastwood High School and lived in Skaneateles since 1979. Ruth was employed for four years with the Syracuse Governmental Research Bureau and previously worked for Leo A. Kline. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Auburn and the Mrs. Bowling League. An avid Syracuse University fan, Ruth also enjoyed gardening and doing a variety of puzzles. She volunteered with the AARP tax program and the Onondaga County Election Board as an elections inspector.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Leon “Lee,” in 1993; and brother, Bud Haines.
Surviving are her son, James (Diane); daughter, Linda (Richard) Cunningham; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in Second Baptist Church. Ruth will be laid to rest in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
