Fancher “Newell” Follett of Skaneateles, died unexpectedly Friday, May 6, 2016. Newell was born Oct. 2, 1935 in Auburn to Margaret and Fancher Follett. Newell grew up and graduated from Weedsport Central School and attended Cushing Academy in Massachusetts. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology and was employed many years at US Plywood. Later he was an owner of Central New York Building Products in East Syracuse. After selling the business in 1996, Newell enjoyed the best part of his career employed at Willey Lumber Company in East Syracuse.
A long-time member of Skaneateles Country Club, he was an avid sailor, skied many seasons at Labrador Mountain, and was a model airplane enthusiast. He enjoyed playing pickle ball and was a devoted 5:30 a.m. gym member at the Skaneateles Community Center. Newell was a fun-loving man, a great husband, father, and grandfather. He was very much loved and admired and will be missed.
Newell is survived by Eleanor, his loving wife of 57 years; his children and their spouses Karen Lynn (Dick) Taggart of Boston, and Timothy (Antoinette) Follett of Fayetteville and three cherished grandchildren Margaret and Charlie Taggart, and Emmett Follett.

The Follett family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 20, at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Funeral services and burial will be private.
