James Dye, 80 of Skaneateles went to be with his Lord and savior on Thursday April 14, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Auburn to the late Curtis and Goldie Dye, he worked on the family farm before working for Southern Container as a printer. He attended Coon Hill Country School until eighth grade before graduating from Skaneateles High School. Church and his family were the most important things in his life. Jim was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church where he was an honorary lifetime deacon and was very active in the AWANA Youth Group. Jim loved to garden, fish and hunt, especially enjoying his bear hunting trips.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years the former Clara Frost, daughter Diane (Alan) Carr; sisters Ella (Henry) Leubner and Vera Droppa. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Amy (Jonathan) Sandgarten, Carey (Joel) Brown, Kelly (Mike) Rogalia and Jesse (Autumn) Carr; great grandchildren Lillyann, Johanna and Wesley Brown and Sidney Sandgarten. He was predeceased by his son Dennis in 1985, sisters Evelyn Horsford and Lillian Foster and brother George Dye.
Services for Jim were 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Rose Hill Baptist Church. He was buried in Thorn Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends called on the family from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 15, at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St. Marcellus.
