VILLAGE OF MANLIUS – The village of Manlius is seeking input from residents on whether to allow additional drive-through restaurants in the village. Currently, the village has a ban on drive throughs and the only restaurant in the village with a drive through is the Burger King, which predates the ban.
On April 12, the village’s Commercial Zoning Code Review Committee will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium in the village center to hear resident feedback on potential changes to the definitions of the existing commercial zones in the village.
Specifically, the committee is considering a recommendation to the village board on whether to combine the two existing commercial zones and allow drive throughs and outdoor seating in the commercial zone or continue the longstanding ban on drive throughs for food establishments in most commercial zones in the village. If the committee were to recommend allowing drive throughs and outdoor seating, the applicant would need to obtain a special permit from the village board.
The committee is comprised of two members of the village board, one member of the planning board, one member of the zoning board of appeals, the village code enforcement officer and the village attorney.
