On May 21, Village of Cazenovia Mayor Kurt Wheeler provided an update on the local response to COVID-19.
The mayor reminded residents that face coverings are required for service at any business open as part of Phase I or Phase II Restart NY.
“It is not optional, but a condition of the Restart program,” Wheeler said. “Both service providers and patrons are required to wear a mask and shop owners will refuse service to those who refuse to cooperate. This is both a health and economic necessity. Be considerate of the service providers who come into contact with scores of people every day and do your part to keep our local economy moving forward by preventing a setback.”
Beginning this week, the outer door to the Village of Cazenovia Offices at 90 Albany St. will be open for individuals who need assistance with documents or require a higher level of service.
Assistance will be available through the service windows, but residents are still encouraged to do as much as possible by mail, phone or email.
“Please wear a mask and use the hand sanitizer that is available on site for the safety of our staff,” Wheeler said.
Picnic tables are now available in four village parks for residents to enjoy with their families. There are nine tables in the Lakeside pavilions with seven more throughout the park. Eight tables are in Lakeland Park, three in Memorial Park, and one in the new Creekside Park behind the library.
“Support one of our local businesses and enjoy a meal ‘out’ with your family,” Wheeler suggested.
Residents are asked to continue practicing social distancing from other groups and to wipe down the tables before and after use.
