Van Buren — In its first meeting of the new year, the Van Buren Town Board approved a local law that provides language in the town code for installing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.
“Solar PV systems located on residentially zoned properties, other than apartment dwellings or townhouses, shall only be required to obtain a solar system building permit in order to proceed with installation,” the local law reads. “Ground-mounted solar panels are not allowed in the following residential districts: R-10, R-15, R-20 or residential portions of PUDs.”
