Kinney Drugs in the village of Manlius has decided to close its business after three years of operation.
After opening its doors in December 2014 in Manlius’ Madison Row development and holding its grand opening in early January 2015, the 12,000-square-foot store business at 7600 Highbridge Road has decided to close due to “unique challenges with that specific location which have led to its underperformance,” according to a statement issued on the company’s official Facebook page.
“They’ve tried everything and it’s not working,” said Manlius Mayor Paul Whorrall during the Manlius Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday. “They’ve had deficit for the last few years and just can’t keep going on.”
Whorrall said there is no specific date set for Kinney’s closing, and no indications yet of what business may take over the Kinney’s space.
Kinney Drugs is an employee-owned company, with over 30 locations in Central New York.
