FFL First Tech Team wins regional competition

The Fayetteville Free Library (FFL) FIRST Tech Team competed in the First Tech Challenge Regional Championships at SUNY Utica Poly this past weekend, Jan. 13-14, and the team, along with two other teams, combined in an alliance that won the regional championship.

The FFL FIRST Tech team, which consists of students in grades 7 through 12, is challenged to design and build robots to compete against other teams. The FFL adult coaches, Mike Cimino and Margaret Portier, guide students through the process while developing STEM skills.

The FFL has entered a team in the FIRST Tech challenge since 2015. A new team will form in the fall of 2018.

Anyone interested in receiving an application, or for more information, contact Mike Cimino (mcimino@fflib.org) or Margaret Portier (mportier@fflib.org). The FFL will be conducting interviews in July for the 2018-19 year.
