The Skaneateles Foundation is seeking nominations for “Citizen of the Year.”
This biannual event is a lifetime achievement award celebrating dedication to our community.
For the third time, we will also present the SKN Inspire Award to recognize a rising leader who has chosen a path of volunteerism, service, and involvement in local organizations.
This honor will go to someone under the age of 40 with approximately five years or more of dedication to helping and inspiring others in the Skaneateles community.
Each year, the Skaneateles Foundation has been awed and humbled by the number of nominations of amazing people. No doubt, the selection process will be challenging because of the quality of candidates.
Anyone who has an outstanding candidate for either of these awards can send a letter of recommendation.
Some desirable characteristics for nominees: Longevity in our community; Volunteer work that has had a significant impact on our community; Contributions that have helped to improve the quality of life in our community; Work that has been done without the expectation of reward or recognition, but mainly for the joy and satisfaction of helping to make our community a better place to live.
To help the nomination process, please be as detailed as possible. For example explaining why the community service of a nominee is admirable or explaining the characteristics a candidate exhibits that deserve recognition or describe community service work and include names of organizations that have benefited from the nominee’s involvement.
Submissions will be accepted through May 10.
Recipients will be announced in May and an event will be planned for the fall.
Submit nominations to Skaneateles Foundation, PO Box 199, Skaneateles, NY 13152 or email nominations to [email protected].
