The Skaneateles Area CROP Hunger Walk will be held Oct. 18, 2020. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the First Presbyterian Church, 96 East Genesee St. The walk will kick off at noon, rain or shine.
Participants can choose to complete a one-mile or a 3.1-mile route. Walkers are asked to wear face masks and to maintain an appropriate social distance from non-family members throughout the designated route.
The Skaneateles Area CROP Hunger Walk is an ecumenical event presented by First Presbyterian Church, St. James Episcopal Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, all located in the Village of Skaneateles. Walkers must register with one of the partner churches to participate.
CROP Hunger Walks are community-based events held in cities and towns across the United States to raise funds to support the global mission of Church World Service. Church World Service is an ecumenical, faith-based organization that is transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster. Twenty-five percent of CROP Walk funds remain in local communities. Funds raised through the Skaneateles Area CROP Hunger Walk will benefit the Skaneateles Ecumenical Food Pantry, 819 W. Genesee St. Road; and the Spafford Food Pantry, 6816 State Route 41, Homer.
Donations to the Skaneateles Area CROP Hunger Walk can be made through participating churches or directly online at www.crophungerwalk.org/skaneatelesny. Online donations are strongly encouraged.
