Judy Gelston, coordinator of the Skaneateles Ecumenical Food Pantry announced that due to COVID-19, the food pantry has temporarily closed.
According to a message from Gelston, the plan is to reopen the pantry once the stay at home order has been lifted, but for now this closure will tentatively last until at least April 28.
Any member of the community in need of food assistance can sign up for the breakfast and lunch program offered by the Skaneateles school district.
Information on this program can be found on the school website skanschools.org.
More information is also below.
The Skaneateles Central School District is combining resources with Skaneateles Outreach and the Skaneateles Ecumenical Food Pantry, to provide food and meals to any family in the district in need. SCSD School Lunch Director, Emily Cullen, and many of her staff, are working every day to provide two meals a day, including hot meals two days a week, for over a hundred local families. Our bus drivers, food service workers, and custodial staff are working every day to provide these meals to our families in a safe way. We thank them all for their commitment and hard work.
Breakfast and lunch are available to any family, regardless of income. Community members do NOT need to have children in the school system, and do not need submit any financial paperwork. These are unsettling times, and the SCSD, along with the generous support of our community, will be extending our table to all of our families.
We ask that anyone who would like to receive meals, please contact Emily Cullen at [email protected] or leave her a message at 315-291-2248.
The SCSD asks that families should not hesitate to contact us at any time if they need meal assistance.
We would like to thank the community again for all of your generous donations through the Skaneateles Ecumenical Food Pantry and Skaneateles Outreach.
