Annual Thanksgiving Service planned for Nov. 20
The Annual Community Thanksgiving Service hosted by the churches of Skaneateles will be held Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4 pm at St. James’ Episcopal Church, 96 E. Genesee St. Each year we gather in worship to note the blessings we have received and to offer thanks to God for these blessings.
The worship is led by the members of the Skaneateles Ecumenical Clergy Association. Rev. Thomas McGrath of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church will deliver the message. A choral anthem, “Canticle of Praise,” by Hal Hopson will be presented by a combined choir consisting of members from the choirs of the participating churches and others. Singers participating in this combined choir are asked to be at St. James’ to rehearse at 3 pm prior to the worship service with choir director, Kip Coerper.
This year, the free will offering will benefit the Clergy Association’s “Transient Fund.” This fund allows the pastors in the community to provide meals, temporary lodging, and gasoline for persons who find themselves in need while traveling through Skaneateles. We thank our partners in this ministry: The Hilltop Restaurant, the Skaneateles Inn on 20, and the Kwik-Fill Red Apple Station.
Following the worship service everyone is invited to the Hazel Smith (Parish) Hall for refreshments and fellowship. This worship service is open to everyone in the community to share in this time of gratitude and celebration.
