Jefferson Quartet to perform July 16
Continuing the Skaneateles tradition of live, affordable chamber music featuring local professional musicians, the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church c.1871 in the Village of Skaneateles has been awarded $1,000 by SKARTS (Skaneateles Area Arts Council)
to subsidize two performances by the Jefferson Quartet, created by Cellist Lindsay Groves. Welcoming a wide spectrum from very young to senior citizens, the Jefferson Quartet looks forward to performing for the community and visitors to Skaneateles.
Recognizing seniors here mainly live on fixed incomes, tickets are very affordably-priced at two concerts together for ten dollars each (twenty dollars total) or a single concert at fifteen dollars.
Saturday, July 16, at 7:30 p.m., Lindsay Groves, cello; Dana Huyge, viola; Andrew Bergevin, violin; and Sonya Williams, violin; all Syracuse Symphoria players, will present Beethoven’s Quartett in F minor, OP. 95., Debussy’s Claire de Lune, arr. Dana Huyge; and Dvorak’s American Quartet.
The 1871 church has extraordinarily fine acoustics for string concerts.
The Jefferson Quartet was first organized to play at Holy Trinity July, 2014 at PAVI 14, an International Physics Conference of scientists, who gave rave reviews of the concert.
The Holy Trinity congregation is excited about the prospect of hosting the Jefferson Quartet again for the community’s enjoyment and will provide a complimentary reception after each concert for the listening public to meet performers.
Holy Trinity is a 102-year-old congregation.
The sacred simplicity of its sanctuary and nave lend itself to hosting small, intimate concerts of about one hundred persons in attendance.
The Christian Preschool is a ministry of Holy Trinity Lutheran whose curriculum includes weekly music. The Preschool, as well as their parents are invited and encouraged to attend the Jefferson Quartet concerts with the rest of the surrounding community.
All children under 12 will be free when each accompanied by an adult.
Hoping to enhance the cultural appreciation of live classical music and also promote the crucial tradition of presenting music to future musicians at an early age, the Holy Trinity congregation looks forward to hosting these concerts and is providing the site and related amenities as a gift to their community.
These concerts are supported SKARTS (the Skaneateles Area Arts Council) in order to present professional, classical musical in an affordable format for the community and surroundings they serve.
Tickets are available in advance at the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce or at Holy Trinity the night of the event. Parking is available between the yellow lines at the south end of the Skaneateles Fire Department.
