Marcellus
Voters: • Approved a $33,401,273 budget for the 2016-17 school year that increases spending 3.56 percent ($1,147,684), and carries a 1.99 percent tax levy increase: 573 yes, 248 no. • Approved the purchase of four school buses at a cost not to exceed $444,932: 582 yes, 248 no. • Re-elected three members of the Board of Education: Janine Lundrigan (653 votes), Ryan Riefler (656 votes) and Thomas West (632 votes). They will serve three-year terms starting July 1. • Approved an annual budget increase of $9,864 for Marcellus Free Library: 589 yes, 240 no.
West Genesee
West Genesee residents approved the 2016-2017 budget and bus proposition on May 17, 2016. The $82,227,170 budget received 1,394 favorable votes and 257 votes in opposition.
A second proposition to purchase district vehicles was approved 1,304 to 345. Thank you to the community for your continued support!
Other propositions that would provide funding for three area libraries (Maxwell, Fairmount and Onondaga) were put to a vote. The proposition for Maxwell/Fairmount Libraries were approved with 1,248 votes in favor and 401 votes opposed, and Onondaga Free Library also approved with 1,139 votes in favor and 509 votes opposed.
Board of Education Candidates are Elected
Elected to the Board of Education for three-year terms beginning in July, are incumbents Roberta M. Herron with 1,165, and Karen M. Fruscello with 1,093. New to the Board is Eric A. Bacon with 1,316 votes. Tonya D. Wilson received 793 votes.
Solvay
ordan-Elbridge Central School District voters approved the district’s $29,198,000 budget for 2016-17 with 303 yes votes to 56 no votes, elected three Board of Education members, and also voted to establish a capital reserve fund (288 yes and 67 no).
Voters supported an increase of $5,000 for the Elbridge Free Library (282 yes, 75 no) and an increase of $5,000 for the Jordan Bramley Library (280 yes, 77 no).
Voters also elected three candidates for three open Board of Education seats:
- Dr. Michael Jorolemon 276 votes – elected
- Patricia Starratt-Baum 235 votes – elected
- Karen Guerrette, 250 votes – elected
