The Clay Republican Committee’s most recent campaign finance report doesn’t show much in the way of activity, but it’s no surprise, since the Republicans haven’t had a slate of opponents for the town board since 2007.
The July 2015 periodic report shows that the Clay Republican Committee has a total of $38,264.45 in its accounts. The committee refunded $800 in contributions during the first part of 2015, $400 to CNY Extermination, Inc., and $400 in excess cash contributions to Momar, Inc. The committee also contributed $250 to the Independent Party of New York.
Other expenses are as follows:
- $60 to the Salina Republicans for reimbursement for meeting expenses
- $100 in charitable contributions to St. Rose of Lima Church
- $100 to the Onondaga Republican Committee for clambake tickets
- $1,416.64 in reimbursements to Committee Chair Rand Allgaier
Meanwhile, the Clay Democratic Committee, though it has not announced any candidates for the November elections, has a total of $671.60 in its accounts, according to the committee’s July report. They’ve taken in a total of $215 in contributions and spent $44.82 on hardware and signs. The committee also contributed $300 to the campaign of Kevin Tees, a Democrat who had requested the party’s nomination to run for the Onondaga County Legislature in the 14th District (see Tees’ financials below).
Dougherty owes himself $7K
John Dougherty’s campaign lists a $7,000 outstanding loan to himself, according to his July 2015 financial report.
Dougherty loaned his campaign $7,000 in May of 2011 when he ran for his second term on the legislature. The loan makes up a portion of the $21,455.48 currently listed in Dougherty’s campaign account as he runs for his fourth term as Second District Onondaga County Legislator. The Second District covers most of the town of Clay. Dougherty is running unopposed.
Dougherty’s campaign accepted contributions from Balloni for Sheriff in the amount of $1,000, individual contributions from John Trimble of Fulton and Robert Healy of Pittsford and a total of $830 in unitemized donations under $99 collected at a June 25 fundraiser at Clay Central Park.
The campaign has spent a total of $776.57, 426.57 of which went toward the fundraiser. Of the remaining $350, $100 was contributed to the Onondaga County Republican Committee and $250 was donated to the Independent Party of New York.
Jordan, Tees running for 14th district
Casey Jordan, meanwhile, lists $10,707.87 in his campaign account. Jordan is running for 14th District County Legislator; the 14th District covers the eastern portion of the town of Clay, including the village of North Syracuse.
Jordan lists no contributions over $500 for the first part of 2015. Notable contributors include Bruce Kenan, a partner at Destiny USA, who donated $150, and former legislators William Meyer and William Sanford. Jordan’s financials list a contribution from Citizens for John Dougherty in the amount of $250; however, Dougherty’s financials don’t make note of such a donation in the same period.
Jordan’s expenses total $1,040.94, including $940.94 for fundraisers and $100 in contributions to the Irish Dancers’ Club.
Jordan is being challenged by newcomer Kevin Tees of North Syracuse, whose July financial report shows $3,483.24 in his campaign accounts.
Tees’ largest contribution came from Patricia Tees of Clay, who donated $1,000 to his campaign. He also accepted a $250 donation from Iron Workers Local 60, as well as the aforementioned $300 donation from the Clay Democratic Committee. The majority of his other donations are from individuals in the amount of $100 or less.
Tees has spent a total of $901.76 on fundraisers and office expenses.
