This week’s Liverpool High School Senior of the Week is an accomplished Special Olympian, having competed in the games for the last 12 years.
David Sill has won 16 gold medals, 10 silver medals and three bronze medals in sports like golf, soccer, floor hockey and track and field. He hoped to add another to his collection this summer in the games at SUNY Brockport. In addition, David managed the LHS boys’ JV basketball team.
David also enjoys music. He has been involved in HOPE’s Ambassadors Therapeutic Music and Movement Group at Northside Baptist Church, as well as Teen Club Rocks.
An active volunteer, David has donated his time to several community organizations, including Meals on Wheels every week, as well as the Polar Plunge, Cops on Top and the Torch Run for Special Olympics. He hopes to continue his volunteer work after graduating from Liverpool so that he can “share [his] talents and make others happy.”
David enjoys collecting mascots.
“I’ve never met a mascot I didn’t like,” he said.
He also loves Disney World and would go there for every vacation if he could.
David said his brother Michael, also a member of the Class of 2015, has had the greatest influence on his life.
“He’s my best friend,” David said. “He helps me learn, coaches me in my sports and is there to cheer me on in life.”
