Members of the Cazenovia High School Class of 2017 this week presented a check for $500 to the Cazenovia Volunteer Fire Department, part of the funds raised from the class’s June 7 Color Run fundraiser. The Color Run was a 3K/5K run/walk for all ages held at the Sean Googin Memorial Sport Complex on Fenner Road.
The class decided they wanted to use part of the funds raised to “pay it forward” and donate to a community organization, said Class Advisor Deb Kutik. The class took a vote and chose the Cazenovia fire department.
“We’re happy we can be a part of the community and be a charitable source for the high school class,” said Cazenovia Fire Chief Don Arnold.
During a brief presentation ceremony on Wednesday, July 15, Class of 2017 President Lucy Connor, Vice President Caeli Carroll and Secretary Molly Carges presented the $500 donation to Arnold, who said the money would be used for equipment upgrades.
The Class of 2017 has already scheduled a second Color Run fundraiser to be held June 5, 2016, at Fenner Fields.
