On Sept. 3 last year, Dan Golden was appointed executive director of Liverpool Public Library. On Thursday, July 2, he resigned after less than 10 months on the job.
On the morning of July 3, clerk to the Liverpool Public Library Board Dorothy Morgan informed library staffers via email that Golden had resigned due to “personal reasons.”
Golden was the first man ever to lead the local library.
He’d been hired last year after the trustees conducted a nationwide search and interviewed three candidates, two of them twice.
A Syracuse native, Golden previously served as assistant director at the Onondaga Free Library. When he accepted the position in September, he replaced Jean Armour Polly, who retired on April 6, 2014. He started work here in October.
Golden is the son of Fay Golden Taylor, who was director of Liverpool Public Library for 23 years, from 1975 to 1998
Until a new executive director is hired, LPL Assistant Director Glenna Wisniewski will manage the library.
