Just one more event remained before Baldwinsville’s indoor track and field teams ventured to SRC Arena for next Wednesday’s Section III Class AA championships.
During Thursday’s George Constantino Memorial Invitational, the girls Bees could only manage 14 points, tying Corcoran for 11th place, well off the 102-point pace that Fayetteville-Manlius established winning its second straight meet.
Still, there were a series of good finishes, none better than that of Maizy Ludden in the 3,000-meter run. The B’ville senior finished in exactly 10 minutes, 54 seconds, putting her in second place, trailing only F-M’s Jenna Farrell, who won in 10:52.22.
In field events, Hailey Couchman went 16 feet 2 ¾ inches to finish fifth in the long jump, where Cicero-North Syracuse’s Javielle Fanizzi (17’3 ½”) prevailed, Couchman later tying for 11th in the high jump. Marina Blasi had a 10th-place long jump of 14’6” as Haleigh Jaquint flew 32’10” in the triple jump for her own fifth-place effort.
Anna Demer, Rebecca Lawrence, Claire McMahon and Marissa Lathrop took sixth place in the 4×400 relay in 4:34.70. Lathrop, Mia Bolton, Emily McComb and Patricia Conlon got to seventh (11:18.61) in the 4×800 relay, with the Bees also 14th in the 4×200 relay.
Jaquint (9.93 seconds) and Destinee Luciano (9.94 seconds) were 11th and 12th, respectively, in the 55-meter hurdles, while Lawrence took 11th place in the 55-meter dash in 7.86 seconds and Amber White, clearing 7 feet, was 11th in the pole vault.
In other running events, Katie Wicks got to 12th place in the 600-meter run in 1:49.79. McComb was 14th (5:26.96) and Bolton 16th (5:33.08) in the 1,500-meter run, with Sarah Rodman 16th in the 1,000-meter run and Tina Bartelli 20th in the 300-meter dash.
