Village Clerk-Treasurer Dianne Kufel has worked for North Syracuse for a dozen years, and now she’s getting some permanent part-time help.
At their June 12 meeting, village trustees approved the hiring of Julia Getman as the village’s new part-time clerk.
Getman first worked for the village as an accounting intern for three months in 2009 and ’10, when Diane Browning was mayor. At that time Getman assisted Kufel with the village’s budget, special projects, bank reconciliation and evaluation of utility bills and community room space.
“She was an exceptional intern,” Kufel said, “although at that time we were not able to hire anyone. Recently, my office needs some assistance getting through year-end, capital projects and so forth, so she’ll be assisting me.”
The new permanent part-time clerk will be paid $15 per hour.
Her goal, Getman said, is to “use passion to serve others by cultivating and developing constructive relationships with a wide range of business and community partners.”
In her free time, Getman volunteers as a sous chef for In My Father’s Kitchen, a Christian ministry which serves meals to homeless people.
Her previous work experience includes stints as a bank teller and an accounts-payable clerk. Getman formerly owned Belle Jolie, a jewelry and accessories business in Liverpool.
She is a notary public, an appointed administrative position which allows her to authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents such as affidavits.
The village hall is located at 600 South Bay Road; 458-0900.
