The Skaneateles Village Board of Trustees voted to publicize a public hearing for its tentative budget at its March 27 meeting.
The full tentative budget will be made available to the public as of April 2 and the public hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 10, at the beginning of the board’s regular meeting.
Mayor Marty Hubbard said the board plans to approve the budget at either its April 10 or 24 meeting. The village fiscal year starts June 1.
The trustees will also meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7 to hold the annual village meeting, when they will approve a resolution making annual committee and other appointments.

In other business:
–Village Clerk Patty Couch noted that March utility bills must be paid on or before April 15, or else the outstanding charges will be added to the property tax bill that will be mailed out at the end of May.
Like it has done in past years, the village plans to send out a letter to property owners, particularly those who rent their property, reminding them of this policy, Couch said.
–Village Attorney Mike Byrne reported that the people raising money on behalf of Lakeshore Baseball and Softball has reached, and exceeded its goal. Starting in early May, contractors will be working to build concrete dugouts at the Sims Field baseball diamond in Austin Park. Several of the diamonds will also be refurbished to improve the playing surface and drainage, with possible assistance from the village department of public works with the drainage.
–In response to recent comments, trustees said that they will not change their policy on meeting minutes. Minutes are written as a summary of the meeting, not a verbatim account of what was said. Verbatim minutes would be a waste of time for everyone involved Trustee Sue Jones said.
