A series of weather-related postponements caused both of the Skaneateles indoor track and field teams to be inactive through the first week of 2014.
But it cleared up – and then warmed up – in time for the girls Lakers to return to the fray at SRC Arena Wednesday for the George Constatntino Memorial Invitational, where it picked up 14.6 points to finish 11th in a field of 25. Fayetteville-Manlius (81.6 points) finished on top, with West Genesee (52 points) claiming second place.
More than half the Lakers’ points got attained in the 4×400 relay. There, the quartet of Madeline Adams, Olivia Gage, Katelyn Ellison and Julia Willcox finished in four minutes, 27.02 seconds, which put them in second place as F-M, with a time of 4:25.19, prevailed by 1.83 seconds.
Individually, Willcox had the best effort, in the 600-meter run, where her clocking of 1:45.45 put her in third place, not far from the winning 1:42.84 posted by F-M’s Olivia Ryan. Adams (1:47.41) made her way to ninth place.
Keely Gregg grabbed a piece of sixth place in the pole vault, clearing 7 feet. Liz Dwyer, just missing the points, got seventh in the 3,000-meter run in 11:31.84, with Alana Navaroli doing the same in the shot put with a seventh-place throw of 30’8 ¼”. Natalie Roche, in the triple jump, went 29’5 ¼” to finish 11th.
Gage, Lynn, Gregg and Ashley Bonocore were eighth in the 4×200 relay in 1:58.67. Amanda Wetmore earned 10th place in the 300-meter dash in 46.01 seconds.
Ellison managed to take 11th place in the 55-meter dash in 7.98 seconds. Finan Malcolom was 18th in the 1,000-meter run and Alex Clark was 19th in the 55-meter hurdles.
