Jamesville-DeWitt’s girls golf team just completed a regular season where no one in the Onondaga High School League could catch up to them.
So it only figured that, when the OHSL Touranment took place Tuesday at nearby Woodcrest Golf Club, the Red Rams, led by its star trio of Jung-Hye Kim, Molly Hair and Victoria Roney, would prevail again.
J-D had a team score of 373, distancing itself from Christian Brothers Academy, who had to settle for second place with 411, while East Syracuse-Minoa was fifth with 463.
Hair took the lead with a front-nine 42, but Lee, who had a 47, zoomed home in 38, and with a score of 85, she beat Hair and Roney by two shots for top individual honors. Alana Jones, with a 114, was one shot better than Jessica Rieger.
CBA’s Ellie Baumgartner, with a back-nine 44, worked her way to fifth place in 91, one shot behind Fenner. Lis Kip, with a 99, was eighth by herself, while Mary Frances Ierlan had a 111 and Aja Young added a 112, while Annie Fletcher shot 113.
As for ESM, who was playing on its home course, Jess Falix led her side with a score of 112, while Sarah Hiltbrand had a 114. Jenna Buffaloe had a 118, ahead of Mya Biel (119) and Hannah Owens (122) for the Spartans.
An example of what the Red Rams could do, under any conditions, was last Monday’s impressive 175-231 victory over Westhill in cold, windy conditions at Camillus Country Club.
Ignoring the elements Hair shot a nine-hole score of 40, while Kim finished with a 42. They were both well clear of the Warriors’ top player, Dori Cline, who had a 55.
ESM, meanwhile, lost a close 227-235 match to Chittenango. Hiltbrand led the Spartans with a 57, while Falix and Audrey Rivers both shot 59 and Buffaloe added a 60. For the Bears, Meg Arnold (48) and Megan Gearity (50) shot the two low individual rounds of the afternoon.
