For more than 40 years, the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce has recognized a member of the local business community and honored them as the Business Person of the Year. This year’s honoree is Mark Dengler, president of Research & Marketing Strategies, Inc.
“Mark has contributed much to the chamber and the community,” said Nancy Howe, a member of the GBCC Board of Directors, which chooses the honoree from nominated candidates. “RMS is one of only three market research firms in the entire area and very highly thought of in the larger business community. Mark is a credit to Baldwinsville and a provider of good, professional employment within our business community.”
At a time when businesses were moving out of state, Dengler chose to stay in Baldwinsville and start his own company. In early 2000, he conducted a few feasibility studies and found there was a need for affordable market research in Central New York, so he formed RMS and began building a client base. His forecast was right on the mark and, despite an economy facing years of recession, RMS has flourished now providing services to clients all over the world.
“As his company celebrates 11 years in business, it has grown significantly,” Howe said. “There are more than 20 employees and he has moved into his third and largest office location and they have all been in Baldwinsville.”
Dengler was nominated by Pat McFall, former executive director of the Chamber.
“Pat has remained in-touch with the business community and nominated him based upon his professional achievements as well as his involvement in the community,” Howe said.
The Business Person of 2012 Awards Dinner honoring Dengler will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Mohegan Manor, 58 Oswego St., Baldwinsville. Tickets are $35 per person; to purchase a ticket, call the chamber at 635-5631 or email [email protected].
