The fact that Cazenovia’s girls track and field team maintained its long win streak by rolling past Chittenango in Wednesday’s OHSL Liberty division opener was not surprising.
What was satisfying, though, for the Lakers was winning the boys meet, too, Cazenovia completing a sweep by working its way to an 80-61 victory over the Bears.

As for the Cazenovia girls, it routed Chittenango 127-14 for its 29th consecutive meet win as Ashley Winn, Ashley Kent, Hannah Dain and Liz Pittman each claimed a pair of victories.
Winn ran the 100 in 12.6 seconds and the 200 in 26.7 seconds, with Kent going 17.1 seconds in the 100 hurdles and unleashing a top triple jump of 33’1 ½”.
Pittman, who cleared 7’6” in the pole vault, added a long jump title with a best leap of 15’4”. Dain threw the shot put 25’6” and the discus 68’4” to win both events.
