Organizers invite you to get involved with this year’s Baldwinsville Relay for Life.
“The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease,” said Anna Marie Campanino, the event chair for the Baldwinsville Relay for Life event.
Held from 6 p.m. June 14 to 6 a.m. June 15, the 2013 Baldwinsville Relay for Life event also provides a venue to promote the local community and meet new people.
To get the momentum rolling, a “Relay Around The World” kickoff event will be held at 6 p.m. ronight, Feb. 28, at Baker High School to answer the question “Is Relay right for me?” Participants can learn how to start their own team, join a committee and other available avenues with involvement opportunities.
“This event will educate people on Relay for Life. It will show them how to get involved, how to fund raise and how it is helping to save lives from cancer,” Campanino said. “It will also give them a chance to see that everyone around the world is also relaying for a great cause.”
Tonight’s kick-off event will feature various volunteer committees and team captains for interested participants to speak with.
In addition to individual involvement, organizations and businesses are also invited to attend the event. Businesses will learn about the excellent opportunity of becoming a sponsor while organizations will learn about new and exciting ways to become active around Baldwinsville.
“People will learn the true meaning of working together to raise money for such an amazing cause,” Campanino said. “Their minds will be filled with tons of information they can use to get themselves started in raising money and helping to find a cure. They will see and hear stories of current survivors and/or caregivers. They will also see videos of past participants who started in Baldwinsville and are now in different parts of the country still relaying.”
