What the Fayetteville-Manlius and Jamesville-DeWitt boys indoor track and field teams started, their female counterparts would finish off 24 hours later.
In one-sided manners, the girls Hornets and Red Rams won their respective divisions in Thursday night’s league championship meets at SRC Arena.
F-M roared to victory in the CNY Counties League American division by picking up 195 points. J-D completed its own boys/girls sweep in the OHSL Freedom division with 158 points, holding off Homer (126 points) as East Syracuse-Minoa (82 points) settled into third place.
Christabel Ezidiegwu won three times. She rolled to a 55-meter hurdles title in 9.85 seconds, though she had just one opponent, and had more competition in the triple jump, but still won with 33 feet 8 1/2 inches, and capped her effort by clearing 4’9″ with fewer misses than teammate Anna Castro to take the high jump.
The Hornets swept all three relays, including the 4×200, where Anna Perrotti, Chantel Brennan, Jordan Noble and Kelly Muller earned the victory in 1:53.18. Perrotti also ran in the 4×400 with Christine Lavoie, Michelle Duffy and Olivia Ryan as F-M prevailed in 4:14.54, just ahead of Corcoran (4:15.97).
Jillian Fanning, Katie Brislin, Alana Pearl and Mary Barger rolled to a time of 9:26.23 in the 4×800, this after Pearl (2:57.29) beat Brislin (2:57.66) in the 1,000-meter run.
But Brislin won the 600-meter run, edging Ryan, 1:40.02 to 1:40.79, while Barger earned first place in the 1,500-meter run in 4:48.62, with Duffy (4:55.79) in second. Annika Avery made her way to the top with a time of 10:26.09 in the 3,000-meter run, with Jenna Farrell (10:26.69) in the runner-up spot.
Ryan did get a victory in the 300-meter dash in 44.58 seconds. Noble was second in the 55-meter dash (7.84 seconds), with Brennan (7.91 seconds) in fourth place. Febe Oley won the long jump, going 14’9″ as Megan Josephson was third. Abby Konys had the lone pole vault clearance (6’6″) as Gabriella Gorgoni gave F-M a second-place shot put toss of 28′ 3 1/4″.
As for J-D, Rachel Fairbanks made her way to victory in the 1,000 in 3:08.08, with Laura Wengert third (3:10.07) third and ESM’s Grace Maring fourth.
The Rams’ Emilee Carpenter held off the Spartans’ Natalie Marra, 4:56.61 to 4:59.10, in the 1,500, where J-D’s Samantha Clemons was third. Carpenter and Clemons teamed with Fairbanks and Wengert to win the 4×800 in 10:05.95, again leaving ESM (10:34.41) in third.
Ally Fox was victorious for the Rams in the 55 sprint in 7.63 seconds, leaving Sierra Vasiliou (7.74 seconds) third, and completed a sprint sweep when she won the 300 in 44.47 seconds, again with Vasiliou (45.66 seconds) getting third place.
But Vasiliou did prevail in the long jump, going 17′ 3/4″, the best in any division on this night. Patrece Martin chimed in by winning the triple jump by hitting 35′ 2 1/4″. Martin also helped Fox, Casey Keane and Taylor-Rae Danforth as J-D won the 4×200 in 1:54.27, again with ESM (2:03.06) taking third.
Tangela Hightower (32’3 1/4″) and Salwa El-Hindi (28’6 3/4″) went 1-2 in the shot put for J-D. Danforth took second in the pole vault, clearing 8′ as ESM’s Alexis Bennek (7′) was third.
Gabby Pallotta got a victory for ESM in the 3,000 in 11:20.29, where J-D’s Hannah Stefl was third, with Juliette Miller giving the Spartans a victory in the 1,000 in 1:46.36. Nina Zesky again beat the field in the high jump, clearing exactly 5 feet as J-D teammates Toria Carter and McKenzie Kallquist took the fourth and fifth spots.
The Rams were second in the 4×400 in 4:37.61, easily ahead of the Spartans (4:53.39) in third place. The Spartans’ Bridget Benz got third place in the 55 hurdles (10.52 seconds) as Kate McGarrity was fourth in the 55 sprint.
Also for the Spartans, Judi Neff was fifth in the triple jump, with Shantelle Clark sixth in the long jump and Jessica Shane sixth in the shot put.
During the OHSL Liberty/Patriot meet, CBA picked up 22 points for eighth place. Megan Ann Pierce was second in the 3,000 in 10:47.40, while Maire-Kate McGlynn was third (3:10.73) in the 1,000. Gabrielle Schug took fourth in the 1,500 in 5:18.37 and helped McGlynn, Pierce and Julie McInvale grab fourth place (10:57.89) in the 4×800.
