A week removed from their first of two clashes this winter, the Christian Brothers Academy and Jamesville-DeWitt girls basketball teams both found more success.
For the Brothers, a seven-day layoff did little to curb the team’s momentum as it went to Fowler and breezed to a 56-30 victory over the Falcons.
Over the course of the first three periods, CBA (11-1) steadily wore Fowler’s defenses down, and that translated into a 51-24 edge, which allowed the starters to rest late.

Cortland could not solve J-D’s pressure in the first quarter, and the Rams streaked out to a 15-4 lead. Steadily, the margin kept growing, and a 16-8 push through the third period extended the lead to 48-24, allowing J-D to cruise the rest of the way.
Cydney Goodrum, often fouled, made nine of her 13 points at the free-throw line, while Kayleigh Cavanaugh also gained 13 points. Alyssa Robens contributed 10 points as Nyree Mitchell managed six points. Eight different J-D players managed at least one field goal as, like CBA, it improved to 11-1.
The Red Rams step out of league play this week to face Corcoran and Gates-Chili (Section V), while CBA rests and plans for its return to action Jan. 29, against Fulton.
