Now it was time for both of the Skaneateles indoor track and field teams to go to Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena for another winter full of contests against the area’s best.
In that first event, the Jack Morse Relays, the girls Lakers found its way to 10th place on Friday night, picking up 18.5 points in a tightly-bunched field where Fayetteville-Manlius and Liverpool, with 41 points apiece, shared top honors.
Nearly half of those points came in the 4×400 relay. Emma Ford, Jane Gaffney, Julia Willcox and Taylor Woodruff posted a time of four minutes, 23.98 seconds, beating everyone except F-M, who gained first place in 4:22.20.
Ford and Lynn also helped the Lakers tie for fifth in the high jump with a combined clearance of 9 feet. Megan Molnar, working by herself, cleared 8 feet in the pole vault, putting her in third place among individuals and tied for fifth, team-wise. Molnar and Woodruff went a combined 27’ 8 ¾” for fourth place in the long jump.
Another Skaneateles quartet – Liz Dwyer, Kaitlyn Neal, Jenn DeRosa and Aubreah Lynn – stepped up for their own fourth-place finish in the distance medley relay, posting a time of 13:37.70.
Corrine LaFrance and Ashley Bonocore just missed the points list in the 55-meter dash, taking seventh with a total of 16.41 seconds. They also helped the Lakers take eighth in the 4×200 as Skaneateles also was seventh in the 4×800, where Willcox, Morel Malcolm, Finan Malcolm and Maria Schillace posted 10:54.90.
Two nights earlier, in the boys edition of the Jack Morse relays, the Lakers picked up 10 points, part of a three-way tie for 16th place overall. Cicero-North Syracuse, with 51.83 points, edged Baldwinsville (47 points) for top honors.
Carson Schwab cleared 11’ 6” in the pole vault, which led the Lakers to a tie for third in that event. Patrick Biver and Connor Hurley were fifth in the triple jump with combined efforts of 71’ 6 ½”.
Other points came in the 4×400 relay, where the Skaneateles quartet of Ethan Johanns, Max Dwyer, Ty Winkelman and Nick Smolenski finished in a time of 3:53.91. Baldwinsville pulled away to win that race in 3:35.18.
Smolenski, Biver, Mike Sommers and Cooper Watt just missed the points in the 4×800, getting seventh place in 9:36.04.
The Lakers were also eighth in the 4×200 relay in 1:44.05 as Ari Hristodoulou, Dan Stabile, Max Weiss and Danny Wolfanger finished in 1:44.05.
