Once again, the Baldwinsville Kiwanis saw record numbers for the club’s annual Turkey Trot held Thanksgiving Day. The 44th annual event drew 2,670 participants.
Featuring something for every runner including a half-mile Kids Fun Run, 5K and 10K races as well as entertainment provided by The Details, this year’s event also featured a new 5K course, which was well received.
“Everyone I spoke with liked it or loved it,” said Baldwinsville Kiwanis Mike Samoraj. “The runners really appreciated the support given by the residents along the route.”
Race winners included: Nick Stenuf (Men’s 5K) with a time of 15:12; Connor Buck (Men’s 10K) with a time of 35:15; Kacey Gibson (Women’s 5K) with a time of 17:43; Megan O’Conner (Women’s 10K) with a time of 41:00; and Augusto Perez (10K Wheelchair Division) with a time of 25:01.
Proceeds from the Baldwinsville Kiwanis Turkey Trot will benefit Ronald McDonald Charities of Central New York, Kamp Kiwanis and other charities that help meet the needs of children.
“With all the money raised from this event as well as the others we do, we should be able to continue to be very supportive of the children in our community,” Samoraj said.
