Baldwinsville’s boys cross country team kept on running, all the way through Thanksgiving weekend.
The Bees’ strong 2012 campaign earned them an invitation to the Nike Cross Regional Championships, held Saturday at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls.
On the same Bowdoin Park that hosted the State Federation meet a week earlier, the Bees, led again by Alec Peinkofer, finished 12th in a 25-team field composed of the best sides in the region.
With a total of 336 points, the Baldwinsville Harriers (real school names are not allowed in this event) lagged behind a classic battle at the top where Fayetteville-Manlius, avenging its state Class A championship defeat, beat Saratoga, 86 points to 98.
Peinkofer, who was third in the Federation meet, got to 12th place here against a deeper, stronger field as he finished in 16 minutes, 20.1 seconds, off his 16:08.6 clocking of the week before.
Andy Fleming finished in 17:19.5, putting him in 81st place, eight spots better than Jack Martin (17:25.9). Josh Perez finished in 17:55.9, while Antonio Martinez recorded a time of 18:04 flat. Casey McAllister had 18:38.3 and Harrison Warner clocked 18:48.1.
All of them lagged behind F-M senior Nick Ryan, who won the regional race in a time of 15:27 flat that set a new Bowdoin Park course record.
