Veterans Day in Skaneateles this year again will be marked by an American flag display and remembrance ceremony in Clift Park, coordinated by the Skaneateles Girls Lacrosse Association and the members of the high school girls lacrosse teams.
Flags can be purchased by community members in honor or memory of a veteran living or dead, of any war, past or present.
The flags will be three-by-five feet in dimension and mounted on a six-foot pole. They will be sold for $40 for new flags or $20 to fly a flag purchased from a prior tribute.
The flags will be displayed in Clift Park from Friday, Nov. 2 through Tuesday, Nov. 13, and a Veterans Day remembrance and thanksgiving ceremony will be held at 11a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in the park. The Skaneateles American Legion, local clergy and a local poet all will be invited to participate in the ceremony.
Further information or flag purchases can be made through any member of the girls lacrosse teams or by contacting Mary Gaffney at 685-0229 or [email protected].
