It’s not every day you get the chance to fight like a Jedi.
Next week, kids will get just that when Guzmán’s Dance Studio hosts a martial arts camp from 9 a.m. to noon July 30 through Aug. 3.
Sharif Bey, of Syracuse Kung Fu, will be the chief guest instructor for the daily camp, where kids will learn basic martial arts as well as a fight sequence from George Lucas’ “Star Wars” film series. Campers will also learn how to make their own lightsaber. The camp is open to kids between ages 6 and 11; a snack and supplies will be provided each day.
Bey began his martial arts training at age 5 studying Tae Kwon Do and Wing Chun Kung Fu. He began to teach publicly in Syracuse in 2000, and in 2004, Syracuse Kung Fu was born.
You can register for the Jedi Training Camp, or the studio’s second Princess Camp, online or by calling 637-0401. Guzmán’s Dance Studio is located next to Kirby’s Restaurant in the village of Fayetteville.
