Developers of the Highland Meadows subdivision received the go ahead from the Lysander Planning Board.
On Monday, June 18, the board approved a preliminary plat approval with conditions: the developer, Highland Meadows Development LLC, must obtain wetland crossing approvals from the Army Corps of Engineers and final plat approval for the first of four proposed phases from the planning board.
Once received, construction can begin on the 107-lot subdivision located on a 124-acre parcel located west of Indian Springs and south of Giddings Crest
When the developer initially approached the town seven years ago, it was for a larger subdivision. Last year, Highland Meadows Development LLC proposed a cluster-style development with the average lot size at 13,500 square feet. The approved development will also include an access road into the two neighboring developments and 68 acres of open land including 21 acres of wetlands. The development will not disrupt wetlands in the area, which are protected by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Army Corps of Engineers.
