Karen Jackson of Kirkville has been selling her handmade goods at area farmers’ markets for about 40 years.
She had a colorful supply of aprons, mini purses and totes for sale at the Manlius Farmer’s Market Sunday, June 17.
“Anything people want, I start making,” she said.
Her most popular item?
“I guess I’m selling out the mini purses and totes,” she said. “When I did [the Syracuse University market] last year the kids loved the big totes, so I’m going to make more of those now.”
She says business has been slow in Manlius, and hopes people will begin to pay more attention to the market behind Sno Top as the summer progresses.
“We had more vendors last year, but we lost two,” she said. “Maybe they can get a list of vendors from Oneida’s market and maybe Cazenovia’s market, because they need more vendors so the people will pay attention. But the vendors don’t want to come because the people don’t come.”
The Manlius Farmer’s Market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
