At the close of its OHSL Liberty division slate, the Skaneateles girls track and field teams would stand in second place with a 7-1 mark, the lone blemish coming against Cazenovia.
In the regular-season finale Tuesday at Alibrandi Stadium, the Lakers roared to a pair of victories in a three-way meet, topping host Christian Brothers Academy 89-24 and routing Hannibal by a 100-24 margin.
Madeline Adams, owner of the fastest 1,500-meter time of the season (4:52.1, done on this same track at the May 4 Brother Basilian Invitational), settled for 5:02.6, but still won as she also roared to first place in the 3,000-meter run in 10:46.3.
Taylor Woodruff claimed the long jump, going 15 feet 9 inches, while Erin Tonzi unleashed a top triple jump of 32’4”. Molly McCarthy was first in the 200-meter dash in 28.6 seconds as Sophie Darovskikh earned first in the 400 hurdles.
Skaneateles swept all three relays. Woodruff, McCarthy, Anna Barnett and Ashley Bonocore ran the 4×100 in 53.1 seconds, while Jenn DeRosa and Courtney Pitman joined Barnett and McCarthy in the 4×400 (4:31.2). Pitman, Tonzi, DeRosa and Liz Dwyer worked together as Skaneateles claimed the 4×800 relay in 10:27.8.
In the simultaneous boys meet, Skaneateles beat Hannibal 78-64, but lost to CBA 83-58 as the Brothers clinched the league regular-season title with a perfect 8-0 mark.
Khiary Gale still had a top triple jump of 44 feet 3 inches, while Sam Goodell went 19’1” and won the long jump. Jordan Schwab chimed in during the pole vault, clearing 11’3”.
On the oval, Malik Merritt claimed the 200-meter dash in exactly 24 seconds, just as Taylor Weyneth went 1:00.9 to win the 400 hurdles. For CBA, Dan Predmore had a discus throw of 149’6” as Brendan Smith earned titles in the mile and 3,200-meter run.
